Lutheran Disability Outreach
Lutheran Social Services of Indiana
Fort Wayne, IN
The Lutheran Disability Outreach (LDO) program is a ministry designed to serve the physically and developmentally disabled people living in group homes, institutions and private homes. The mission of LDO is to provide hope, help and encouragement to people affected by a developmental disability. The program works to raise disability awareness in the church and community, and to train Christians in disability ministry, equipping them to meet the practical and spiritual needs of the disabled. The primary goal is to motivate and enable congregations to fully integrate people with developmental disabilities into the life of the church and to promote meaningful one-on-one Christ centered friendships between volunteers and the disabled. LDO offers Bible classes in churches and healthcare facilities, a summer camp program and various social or recreational activities.
