Deaconess in International Student Ministry

The International Student Ministry (ISM) program at St. Paul’s has expanded as far as it can under lay leadership. Goals of this program are to offer free English language assistance, events and other opportunities to adjust to American culture. Currently most of the participants in the ISM program are women whose husbands are studying or working and often feel isolated in a foreign land. St. Paul’s plans to induct a deaconess intern to serve as the ISM director. She will train volunteers so they can be more confident in recognizing when counseling is needed.
