Trinity Lutheran Church is working to establish outreach activities geared to help the growing Hispanic community in their neighborhood. The project began with a special Epiphany celebration that was very successful. Currently congregation volunteers and other local talent offer English as a second language classes twice a week. This grant will enable the congregation to expand their program to include additional ESL classes, VBS, summer camp scholarships for children, school supplies and health care information for families. Additional classes for citizenship and computer may be added in the future.

WINGS - St. Louis, Cape Girardeau, Columbia, Springfield
The WINGS (Women and Families In Need Growing Stronger) program operates from offices in St. Louis, Cape Girardeau, Columbia and Springfield, Missouri. The WINGS program provides pregnant and parenting women with counseling, case management, referral and all other support needed to maintain their pregnancy and achieve a healthy outcome for themselves and their babies. The primary goal is provide a supportive alternative to abortion. Other goals are to help these often vulnerable women and their families move from economic dependency to self-sufficiency.
CALL Mentoring
This project provides group mentoring sessions at ten sites in St. Louis city and county for youth ranging in age from 6-18. The program is offered to provide early intervention from high-risk behaviors and unhealthy conditions such as drug abuse, gang involvement, poor academic performance, unsafe neighborhoods, broken families and poor self-image. The program addresses issues of personal growth and development, nutrition, health, hygiene, grooming, safety skills, values clarification, non-violent problem solving, respecting one’s self and others and community building.
